NORTHEAST PA PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS ASSOCIATION (NPPPA) NEWS

President of NPPPA, Bruce Dart, leads organization for 6th consecutive year.

Longstanding association with a professional organization generally leads to involvement, especially after a more than 40 year “run!” I had a couple of times on the board, several offices in the process of “moving up the chairs” and a second time around as president. In 2016, exactly 30 years after being president the first time. I started what used to be a two year term. For 2022, I begin my 6th consecutive year leading the organization.

NPPPA has a rich heritage and I am proud to continue traditions and at the same time reflect current trends.

Founded in 1932 as the “Anthracite Section of Photography,” the group has always had a focus on education.  Networking is still the mainstay in this professional and friendly group We look forward to great educational programs as well as cooperating for meetings with  the Finger Lakes Professional Photography Association of New York State and the Professional Photographers of Pennsylvania (PPA of PA.)  There are many friends in these groups and talented photographers who share their expertise across the board.

During the past two years, we updated the By-Laws, switched to a calendar year instead of a somewhat confusing fiscal one, and moved forward with great educational programs and improved print competitions. Having members who are willing to step up and handle tasks that makes things work results in a fun group that also values learning.

For years I have asserted that those next to us at meetings are often able to give you as much information as those who are presenting programs. We have had several who have put on programs for us that bear that out!
