MANSFIELD PHOTOGRAPHER BRUCE DART RECERTIFIED BY PPA
Bruce Dart, ,Cr. Photog., CPP, owner of the Photos by Dart Portrait Studio in
Mansfield, has been recertified by the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) .
PPA’s Professional Photographic Certification Commission recently notified Dart that he qualified for recertification of the Certified Professional Photographer designation.
Master Photographic Craftsman Eric Richards, chair of the certification commision for PPA in Atlanta, said “I’d like to commend you on maintaining your quality opf excellence as a Certified Professional Photographer. As I’m sure you are aware,” he continued, “this is a significant achievement for those who pursue excellence in the photographic industry.”
Originally Dart was certified by PPA in 1986, becoming at that time, only the 47th photographer in the state to earn that distinction. He has now qualified for recertification for the fifth time. A member of PPA since he began his business in 1979, Dart earned this designation after meeting rigorous requirements measuring his artistic and technical competence. The Professional Photographic Certification Commission currently recognizes less than 2,000 Certified Professional Photographers nationwide.
The commission is the leading body for certifying imaging professionals. Those being certified must complete a written examination, an image evaluation of 10-20 images, and adhere to a stringent code of conduct. PPA’s requirement that certification be renewed every five years ensures continuing confidence in the professionalism of Certified Professional Photographers.
To re-certify, photographers must document a total of 25 education units over a five year period, or submit 10 education units and 20 images to be reviewed. Another option is to pass the comprehensive exam again.
Over the years Dart has been a member of six professional photography organizations -- each offering seminars with some of the nation’s foremost photographers. He has served as president of the Norrtheast PA Professional Photographers as well as the Northcentral PA Photographers.
In 2003, Dart earned the Photographic Craftsman Degree from PPA. To complete requirements for the degree, photographers must earn 11 education and service merits along with 14 merits as a speaker for programs of professional photography associations. Bruce earned his putting on programs throughout New York State, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
